Waterstone Lake Travis

Architect Larry Speck on Waterstone

When Larry Speck said, “We know we are making something special here,” he was right. Nestled among native Texas foliage, each of the 71 units in Waterstone was built to take full advantage of the sunlit views while simultaneously respecting the natural shape of the lakeside terrain. Speck muses, “our vision for the project was like what you see in Italy, where the landscape and buildings become one.”

Ornamented by the constant beauty of the Lake, an oversized porch buttresses each two or three-bedroom unit, creating a unique opportunity to be with nature – a space Speck refers to as “a room outdoors.” And while Lake Travis is mammoth enough for aquatic adventures, as well as fishing expeditions, the Waterstone property is also replete with its own exclusive amenities such as a private nature trail, resort-style pool, gourmet outdoor kitchen and private day dock.

“We thought of a wide range of people when creating Waterstone,” Speck said. “It’s a wonderful community, or for empty-nesters, it’s a place where the kids can come and visit.” With floor-to-ceiling windows, an unobtrusive atmosphere and earthy hues adorning every surface, the design of Waterstone is about people feeling connected to the outdoors within their own space – an ideal combination of landscape and lifestyle.
